Second Call for Proposals (opened 16 January, 2009)

16 January 2009 - Second call for proposals in the Northern European Innovative Energy Research Programme (N-INNER)

The Academy of Finland (AoF), Research Council of Norway (RCN), Swedish Energy Agency (STEM), Danish Council for Strategic Research (DCSR), Projektträger Jülich (PtJ), Estonian Science Foundation (ETF) and Nordic Energy Research (NER) jointly invite researchers to participate in the second call of the Northern European Innovative Energy Research Programme (N-INNER). The total funding of the call amounts to approximately 5.8 million Euro. The call has a distributed pot, meaning that each country finances its own researchers.

This programme is a result of the participation of RCN, STEM, FZJ and NER in the European Research Network Programme INNER ERA-NET.

N-INNER invites researchers to develop and present unconventional, innovative and visionary ideas for new sustainable energy technologies and systems. The call is organised as a two-step process. In the first round applicants shall write a pre-proposal to be evaluated by representatives of the funding organisations. The pre-proposals shall be submitted to NER before the 15th of March 2009.

A selection of first round applicants will be contacted in late April and will be requested to submit a full application. Full applications must be submitted before the 25th of May 2009, and will be evaluated by international experts. The decision and notification of successful applications will be in September 2009. Projects are to begin at the end of 2009.

Both pre-proposals and full applications shall be in English and are to be submitted electronically via the NER website.

The programme will be open to all researchera and research groups at academic and research institutions within the participating countries. Research consortia should consist of partners from at least three different paticipating countries.

Funding will be given for up to 3 years, and key activities shall contribute to consolidating and developing the knowledge base in new energy technologies and systems. Activities may comprise of combinations of Ph.D. and Post-Doc-grants, research education courses, workshops, seminars and international scientific conferences.
